Blinken Translations is a high-performing team of translation professionals based in Leipzig, Germany. Our origins date back to 1997, when our founder Jan Neersoe worked on his first software localization projects using little more than a text editor. Since then, the industry has changed dramatically, and we’ve been there for every step along the way.

We’ve got decades of experience doing hands-on translation and localization work for a wide variety of major clients – first-hand knowledge that is critical for improving any translation process. But we’re also familiar with your perspective as a buyer of translation or localization services, having consulted on or architected content authoring, localization, quality assurance and recruitment processes for translation agencies and clients worldwide.

Jan
Founder; Strategy & Finance

Jan has been in the IT business since 1996, both in technical and business roles. During his active time as a translator, he translated a couple million words and reviewed a couple million more. Today, he is responsible for Blinken’s strategy and finances. He’s also the CEO of his family business, managing a team of 120 people in Germany’s highly challenging elderly care sector – so he knows a thing or two about process efficiency. Jan holds a master’s degree in Philosophy and Cultural Sciences and is a certified systemic coach.

Senior Linguist

Denise started her career in the tourism industry. Working with people has deepened Denise's understanding of the importance of communication which led her to becoming a professional translator. After 12+ years in the business, she has successfully taken her love for languages and nuance in communication into a career where she provides clear and accurate translation services. In her spare-time, she fights imaginary fires and discusses important questions such as “Why is there a window in this wall?” with her three-year-old.

Constanze joined the team in 2011, straight out of university. Since then, working on our clients’ texts has proved to both demand and provide steep learning curves. Along these, she’s thinking on her feet, while keeping the long-term goals in sight. In her spare-time, she enjoys exercising, crafting, and being raised by her daughter.

Jonas
Senior Linguist

Jonas has been working as a translator since 2008. He started as a freelancer and joined Blinken in 2019, specializing on MarCom, corporate and technical content. When working with MarCom, he likes to be creative, which some people call transcreation while he believes it’s what every good translation should be about. He also enjoys being creative on private projects, from inventing games to making bottle gardens.
